We started our week off on a great note with our friends over at Casa Marianella. Situated right near our very own neighborhood, we had the chance to partner with this inspiring organization which aims to provide food, shelter and full supportive services to international refugees and asylum seeking immigrants.
Having walked in with full arms, heavy bags and excited kiddos trailing behind, we were immediately greeted with warm smiles and curious welcomes. With a lot of help and support from Sarah, a gracious case worker at the organization, we were able to meet and mingle with countless inspiring people.
It didn’t take long for word to spread and slowly but surely, the people of Casa Marianella stopped in for sandwiches, cookies and a break from the heat. With each lunch served, we were able to meet a new member from the community and break down the walls of our cultural and language barriers.
Having welcomed individuals from varying walks of life and numerous different countries, Casa Marianella and it’s people had no shortage of spirit or unity. We ended the day with full bellies, a game of basketball and our eyes a little more open to the world.
Over 50 occupants reside within the organization's community homes at any given time. In addition to providing a healthy support system that’s rooting for the success of each individual, Casa Marianella offers its residents nightly English classes, legal counseling and employment opportunities. We were inspired during our time with our neighbors and look forward to future opportunities of giving and serving with them.
