Austin, TX (April 18, 2013) - Mitscoots Socks is doing what it can after a large explosion at a fertilizer plant devastated the small city of West, Texas, just before 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening.
The massive blast, that measured 2.1 on the Richter scale, was felt as far as 80 miles away in Dallas. It is estimated that between 50-75 homes have been damaged or destroyed including a 50 unit apartment complex. More than 170 people have been hospitalized with multiple fatalities at the scene.
Granted these problems go far beyond the scope of what we can realistically help with as just a sock company. However, there is always something that can be done by anyone and everyone. In this case, we have gathered for donation a big box of mitscoots socks to be taken to the town of West.
The temperatures are dropping and there has been extensive rain so we are hoping these socks will do some good among those in West that are dealing with this tragedy.
If you would like to help, there are a number of blood banks working to fill the growing needs of those injured. Also the Austin American Statesman has a great resource going right now that offers more information on how you can help.
